"i think that we're gonna be really fast friends."
just grab a hold of my hand
(i will lead you through this wonderland)
Chloe likes holding people’s hands. It’s intimate, she thinks, without being unsettling. It’s soft words and loud thoughts and everything in between. But, most importantly, the contact is a bridge that leads Chloe to reach the other person; when they connect, she finds something worth staying for - a person worth clutching onto.
Chloe falls for Beca slowly, and views it through the medium of touch.
suffocating
(i'm tearing up, across your face)
You’re 18 when you discover that your life isn’t always going to be like this, that you’re not always going to be walking around with the chains locked and ready around your neck.
Beca, as she stumbles through her first year of college and learns how to breathe again.
you will see me come undone
Seeing Chloe’s face drop when she plays the mix at the next official practice is honestly the best reaction Beca could have hoped for. Beca has floored her; she’s totally exposed, having to listen to what is most definitely one of her lady jams and discuss the parts each person is going to sing. All the while pretending it doesn’t have an effect on her at all.
Beca and Chloe incorporate their flirting game into Bellas practices. One of them has to crack sooner or later.
"maybe someday."
depth
She thinks of her readings at school; the words and stories she grew up with. Finn is no virtuous Othello: jealousy makes a fool of the noblest man, but Finn was just a fool for thinking Clarke’s heart could still have room for him.Maybe Clarke was, too, for believing the same. Once. The pool waits for her. All she needs to do is dive.
In the hazy heat of a sapphic summer, Clarke and Lexa bring Hayley Kiyoko’s Girls Like Girls music video to life.
i'll give you the moon
“What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word, and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon, Mary.”“I’ll take it. And then what?”“Well, then you can swallow it, and it’ll all dissolve, see… and the moonbeams would shoot out of your fingers and your toes and the ends of your hair… am I talking too much?”She watches Clarke mouth the words, and she is fascinated. She knows exactly what her siblings would say. You’re soft, they’d chortle. Big Bad Lexa, all soft for a girl. And that’s precisely the point.
Clarke and Lexa are forced to stay overnight in their hotel on Christmas Eve, because of the snowstorm outside. It’s a problem for Clarke - she has her Christmas traditions and there’s only so much she can do in a hotel room. It’s a problem for Lexa, too - for entirely different reasons.Cue the soppy gay pining.
the beauty of this mess
(is that it brings me close to you)
This girl has a gun. This girl is not a walker. This girl has just saved her life. She doesn’t know why this girl has sparked a feeling inside of her that she couldn’t identify even if she tried. But somehow, she has.
Alicia Clark is alone, separated from her brother and from her family in the midst of the apocalypse. But somehow, Elyza Lex storms into her life with a confident smile and eyes like the sky. What’s worse, she refuses to leave; the bond between Alicia and Elyza is far, far deeper than either expected, and neither of them know why.So it’s a good thing this world is forcing them to stick together, then, right?
"don't be an idiot. of course i'm doing it for you."
take me home, where i belong
Falling in love was inconvenient. Carmilla knew this perfectly well. Last time, it had brought on more devastation than she could handle. Last time, she had had to save herself from that. But this time, there had been no salvation needed. She’d got that before. No, this… this was something else entirely. This was new, this was enlightening - despite the fact that she’d been feeling this for weeks now. This was where she found her true peace.Carmilla could see again.
Everyone has the number of hours, minutes and seconds until they meet their soulmate tattooed on their wrists.
Carmilla had thought of Ell as a temporary escape, a freedom from the life she was living. But Carmilla didn’t need an escape anymore - she needed a home. Laura had always been curious about the idea of her soulmate, like everyone had. But instead of searching for a sense of completion, she just wanted an adventure.Carmilla and Laura may get what they want, but it might just tear their worlds apart.
"you're like the best person i've ever met."
every now and then (come and take my hand)
It’s never usually like this. The Doctor would class a three day trip as a long adventure. They have been Saskia and Julie William-Singh for two months. So, no, it’s never usually like this.
Yaz and the Doctor slip into the lives of two missing women they're trying to find, in a sleepy coastal town on the shores of southern England. Yaz finds she likes it more than she should.
winds of time (and the stories sing)
you may forget, but let me tell you this. someone, in some future time, will think of us.
a quick musing on thirteen and yaz; on names, and their permanence.
for tomorrow i might die
She misses the time when each moment was not a desperate jump to the next.If she is given a second to think then she will think about the Doctor; her last goodbye and those big eyes. And she refuses, at the moment, to think about the Doctor. For she will surely break.Eyes wide as the moon and a moon’s worth of grief in them. Take her back to a time before they latched onto her like that. Take her back to a time when she could breathe.
They leave the Doctor behind, only for her not to return. The world moves on, but Yaz, can't—won't.And it nearly breaks her.
strange seas are for stronger swimmers
She swears she’s never seen the Doctor so distressed. Not even at New Year. Her soft face, her button features crowned in a deep despair, words just on the tip of her tongue in that last moment. When it was just the two of them. When their comfort was ripped from underneath their feet. That last hug ended far too quickly. Yaz wanted to squeeze so hard the Doctor became part of her, under her protection. And how strange that was – to be the protector instead of the Doctor’s charge. She knew she couldn’t, so she committed to memory the feel of the Doctor’s body against hers; the warmth of her torso, the rush of the Doctor’s inhale, exhale, the rapid four-beat rhythm.
The world is in danger and the Doctor is nowhere to be seen. Left behind, Yaz, Ryan and Graham have been given only one task: find Jane Smith, and keep her safe.
more of the universe
'I want more. More of the universe.
More time with you.'
Here I present my pile of Doctor Who one-shots, fics and drabbles I receive from Tumblr.
i might brave the fire til the feeling hits
She’s always wondered what it would be like, to see herself through the eyes of someone else. In a sense of perspective, yes, sure, but to see herself existing, without the self-awareness of existing...Being removed from her body entirely. Letting herself be seen. She didn’t think she’d be so chilled by it.
Escape should not be so convoluted; so emotionally draining. But travelling with the Doctor has its downsides - for the Doctor, as much as anyone else.Even in the mires of another planet's war, there is a past come back to haunt them. All Yaz can try to do is survive it.
don't you ever tame your demons
(but always keep them on a leash)
'What’s your regret tonight, miss?’ the woman whispers. Her mouth stays open, just a little, like she is about to inhale, but there is no release in her chest, no breath spiralling out ghostly in the heathen night. ‘How far have you fallen?’
Flirting with the fallen will never end well.
tell me it gets easier
The Doctor wilts under the realisation that she’d caused this; she’d avoided them for long enough for frustration to build and build like a dredged up water pipe, ready to burst. The bolts are loosening and water has started seeping through the wallpaper.-She thinks kings could kneel for a gaze like that. All sorrow and sympathy, a readiness to fix the unfixable. Her hearts break so much that it seeps into her stare, shards like the gold in the green. Catching her eye keeps Yaz fixed in it – she is suspended there, counting every golden crack in the quiet that passes. Unable to do anything but acknowledge it, confront the sheer power of her sadness.
A rewrite of 12x3: Orphan 55, told from both perspectives.
in great content
When she looks to her left, she sees the Doctor smiling back at her, as if let in on the secret joy. And, maybe she is. Maybe she does know what Yaz is thinking. She would not be surprised. There’s a wavelength they’ve risen to in recent months, conversation through simple glances and gravitation rendering distance unnecessary. They seem a world apart to the world, and closer for it. It gives her a great contentment, wrapped up in the feeling of togetherness.
The Doctor and Yaz hold hands.
with words unspoken
Movement tears her eyes away from her friends. The Doctor is suddenly in front of her, arms towards Yaz and the bow tie in her hands. With a head cocked to one side, her eyes wide and pleading, she asks, ‘Sorry, Yaz, but could you help me out? I always have a bit of a problem with these.Repress, repress, don’t expose. Yaz breathes in – perhaps not the best idea, given the Doctor’s proximity. Peppermint and engine oil; it lingers. But Yaz hides the shakiness of her breath by raising an eyebrow at her best friend. She hopes no one can hear the slight tremble in her voice when she questions, ‘A bow tie, Doctor? Really?’
The Doctor needs a little help fixing her bow tie.
kill our way to heaven
The chill of excitement sets Yaz’s spine alight. At this point, it is a Pavlovian response: the ice and fire of hearing her, of thinking of her, of imagining her. Forbidden fruit and the birth of temptation. Yaz knows it, so intimately. It is the heathen’s response, but she begs for it.
It's a dark world Yasmin Khan has found herself in. Fortunately for her, it comes with perks.
